Why does standard-velocity .22LR need a dedicated rimfire model?
Standard-velocity .22LR spends much of its flight near the transonic region, where the drag is changing quickly and drop is sensitive to small errors. A single generic curve struggles there. RA4 is a purpose rimfire drag law built for exactly that regime, so the trajectory is solved on its own physics.
My .22LR drops differently from the printed numbers. Can the app match my ammo?
Yes — that is what BC truing is for. Rimfire muzzle velocity varies lot-to-lot and barrel-to-barrel, so a published chart is only a starting point. Log one observed drop and PelletArc calibrates a scalar BC to your ammo and barrel; log two or three and it fits a velocity-dependent curve. Your DOPE becomes the calibration.
Does it work without signal at the range, and is there a subscription?
